Solid, liquid or gas????

Solid, Liquid or Gas???
Soda Pop Experiment.
We put soda into a jar, added icecream and wow!

In our jar we had all 3 states of matter.
Solid

Liquid

Gas

The soda and the icecream reacted together to create a gas which sat on top all bubbly!
A yummy Spider Drink!

Reaction fun!!!!!

Vinegar and Baking Soda create a FIZZ!
What we need: Vinegar, Baking Soda, Balloons, Beakers, Goggles, Funnel

We carefully filled the balloons with baking soda.
We poured vinegar into the beakers.
Carefully we put the balloons onto the beakers without letting any baking soda go into the beaker.

On the count of three we turned the balloons up and let the baking soda fall into the vinegar.
WOW!!!!
What a reaction. The reaction caused gas to blow up the balloon.
It was awesome!

WOW! Check out the balloons!

Molecules

Understanding Molecules and how they make up solids, liquids and gases.
What did we find out?

What will these molecules be?
We jumped up and down to see how molecules move around. If they move a lot or a little what will they be?

These molecules did not move how ever hard we tried.
We found out that is how a solid is made up.

We found out that these molecules can move around a little.

We found out that these molecules can move around a lot.

Solid, Liquid, Gas

Looking at the study of matter, we have to understand about solids, liquids and gases.
We had three balloons. We poked them to find what was inside.
Solid!

Liquid!

Gas!

What's the MATTER?

We are looking at Matter this term and the concept of CHANGE.

We had fun watching how hydrogen peroxide and yeast react and change!

Welcome!

Wow, we have had a busy beginning to 2016!

We wonder where all the butterflies have gone!

How can we attract butterflies to our school gardens?

We have looked at home and and school and we have found no Monarch Butterflies. There are a lot of white butterflies flying around the paddocks and our school gardens but the elusive Monarch is no where to be seen.
We thought butterflies might like flowers so our teacher went off to Mitre 10 and brought pink, yellow, purple and white flowers for a butterfly garden. Our teacher also brought some swan plants. To our surprise there was a tiny caterpillar on one of the plants.
It has munched it's way through the leaves on the swan plant and is now a bigger caterpillar.

To help us plan our gardens we needed to understand what and how butterflies feed.
We had fun learning how a butterfly drinks.
